My Favorite Things WSC555

Hello Friends!

After an exciting conclusion to the Birdie Brown August Vault release yesterday from My Favorite Things, I just had to create another project using more of the newly re-released goodies.

For this weeks Wednesday Sketch Challenge, I pulled out the Frightfully Sweet stamp set and coordinating Die-namics.

I stamped a few of the super CUTE critters, colored them with Copics and die cut them out using the coordinating dies.

I dusted off my texture paste and used the Slimline English Brick Stencil. Once the texture paste was dry, I ink blended black soot Distress Ink overtop.

I had a happy accident while creating this card…I was splattering some mica spray onto my card front when I accidentally spilled some of the bottle onto my brick background. I let it dry and love how it filled the cracks and gaps around each brick…sometimes accidents can be a great thing.

I cut out a circle from white card stock and attempted to make it look the the moon using Copic markers. I’m not entirely sure I was successful but I learned a lot on what I would do differently the next time.

Just For You - Happy Birthday

Welcome to another Wednesday Sketch Challenge from My Favorite Things.

Today I decided to take advanced of this weeks sketch challenge to use a stamp set that I have yet to get around to using…Freshly Picked Bouquet. I have wanted to use it since it was released and today it finally got some love!

I followed the sketch exactly and I just think the sketch lends itself perfectly to the Freshly Picked Bouquet stamp set.

I coloured up the image using Copic markers and the cut it out using the coordinating Die-namics. The sentiments were heat embossed with white embossing powder and are from the Itty Bitty Basics set then cut out using the Itty Bitty Strips Die-namics. 

To create a background for my coloured florals, I did some simple ink blending on white card and used the A2 Double Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-namics to cut it out.

Welcome back for another Wednesday Sketch Challenge from My Favorite Things.

Today my card project uses the recently re-released Saddle Up & Celebrate stamp set.

I decided to follow the card sketch exactly and I love how clean and simple the card came out.

I ink blended a strip of white card stock using Distress Ink and then cut it down into smaller strips to recreate the card sketch.

I stamped out one of the images then coloured it up the images using Copic markers and then die cut it out using the coordinating Die-namics.

To finish off the card, I matted it onto some blue card stock and then stamped the sentiment directly onto the card front using black ink.

Welcome back for another Wednesday Sketch Challenge from My Favorite Things. 

I have been in a real rainbow mood the last few month and today was no exception - I may have gone a bit rainbow overload on this card...but can you honestly overdo it with rainbows? ;) 

I pulled out the Balloon Bouquet stamp set and coordinating Die-namics for this weeks challenge, colouring them up with Copic markers. 

I LOVE how the background turned out. To create the background, I mixed my Distress Inks with water - using a paintbrush to apply it to some Canson Bristol Smooth card stock. Next I used my Distress blower (sadly I believe this tool is no longer made) to blow air at the puddle of ink to create the rainbow splatters. You can get the same effect by using a straw if you don’t have a tool to blow the ink.

To finish off my card, I cut down my card front so its smaller than an A2 sized card, then matted it onto a piece of Lemon Chiffon prestige card stock from MFT. I stamped the sentiment in black onto Orange Zest Prestige card stock and cut it out, placing it on top of the balloons using foam tape.

Happy Anniversary - Wednesday Sketch Challenge 542

Welcome back for another Wednesday Sketch Challenge from My Favorite Things.

If you have seen the last few cards that I have posted, you may have noticed that I'm on a real floral kick as of late...and none of them have had any Copic colouring...can you believe that?! I have really been enjoying exploring the non-colouring side of card making and growing as a card maker as a result. Honestly, that truly is what these challenges are for...to inspire us to create, explore and step outside of our crafty box.

I followed the sketch pretty closely using the floral die cut elements from the Box Card Bouquet Die-namics to create one of my favourite flowers that we grow on our property here in Canada...the Hydrangea. 

I die cut out the flowers, ink blended them using Distress Inks and then dry embossed them using a stylist tool to give the flowers shape. I then stacked them on top of each other creating beautiful and colourful Hydrangeas.

I decided to turn this card into an Anniversary card and selected a sentiment from my new favourite set, "Itty Bitty Basics" and then cut out the banner shape using the Itty Bitty Strips Die-namics.

My Favorite Things - Wednesday Sketch Challenge #541

Welcome to another Wednesday Sketch Challenge from My Favorite Things.

Ever since the More Brilliant Butterflies stamp set came out, I have been itching to use it again. I just love this set and it's perfect for whipping up beautiful cards in no time at all.

I stamped the butterflies using a bunch of  yummy My Favorite Things Premium Dye inks. If you haven’t tried the MFT inks, you absolutely need to! Seriously I cannot rave enough about them…they stamp beautifully and even out like nothing I have used before.  

Once I finished playing around with my inks, I die cut them out using the coordinating Die-namics. 

The sentiment was stamped with in VersaMark ink and then heat embossed with white embossing powder. I then die cut out the sentiment using the Fishtail Foundations Die-namics. 

To Finish off my card I had to add my signature splatter using Distress Oxide Sprays in coordinating colours.

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #539

 Hi Friends!

 Welcome to another Wednesday Sketch Challenge from My Favorite Things!  I have really been enjoying these sketch challenges as most days I find I struggle coming up with card layouts. This week I didn’t deviate from the sketch too much and I’m pretty pleased how this project turned out. 

For this weeks challenge I knew I wanted to use the Sprinkling You With Love stamp set...this was my favorite from the April release and I know I will be using it many times again. I used the Slimline Starter Die-namics set to create the base layout for my card using Butterscotch Prestige Card Stock. Next I used the Basket Weave stencil with Candied Yam and Butterscotch Premium Die ink and I just love the texture and visual interest it added to my card. I pulled the banner from the Slimline Starter set and head embossed the sentiment on it using white embossing powder. 

My background was created using the Sunrise Radiating Rays stencil with Amarena Cherry, Candied Yam and Butterscotch Premium Dye inks as well as some Black Soot Distress Ink. I also added some splattering using white paint.  I coloured the adorable image up with my Copic markers...I unfortunately did not write down my combos but I believe I used the E80’s colour family for the colouring.

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #538

 Hi Friends!

I’ve got another card to share with you today that’s a little different than what I normally make. I created it for My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge.

I started by stamping the Spring Wreath set onto MFT’s Kraft Prestige Card Stock then die cut it out with the coordinating Die-namics. I dusted off my Prismacolor coloured pencils and did some simple and quick colouring...I just love how coloured pencils pop on kraft card stock. I think I want to try something similar using black card stock and white heat embossed stamped lines next. 

To create the patterned background, I pulled elements from the Spring Songbird stamp set and stamped them on the kraft card using Prickly Pear Premium Dye Ink and then matted it onto some Prickly Pear Prestige Card stock.

To finish off my card, I stamped the sentiment in the center of the wreath using a black ink and then used my bone folder to score some line along the top and bottom of my card front. 

My finished card measure 5.5” x 5.5”

My Favorite Things - Wednesday Sketch Challenge #535

Hi Friends!

It's time for another sketch challenge from My Favorite Things. I decided to use the Seaside Seagulls stamp set. Between you and me, I purchased this stamp set years ago and never got around to colouring it...shhh don't tell anyone haha

I used Copic markers to colour them up and cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics. 

The band behind my images was done with the Perfect Pool stencil. I love the look it gave and it was so fun to use. In my opinion, the Perfect Pool stencil is a must have in your stencil arsenal.  

Lastly, I added some splatter and a few iridescent sequins to finish off my card.

My Favorite Things - Wednesday Sketch Challenge #534

Hi Friends!

It's time for a new sketch challenge from My Favorite Things.  When I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to use one of my most loved stamp sets...You Gnome Me (seriously I cant tell you how many times I have used this one...but its a lot!)

I wanted top have some fun playing with texture paste to create the brick wall texture on the card. 

 

I stamped and coloured the sweet little gnome using Copic markers and cut him out using the coordinating Die-namics.  I placed him on a circle die cut on which I stencilled some clouds using the Mini Cloud Edges stencil. Next cut out some grass using the Slimline Grassy Hills Die-namics and added some green splatter to the grass for some extra visual interest and texture.
