Three Room Studio - Believe In Fairies

 Hi Friends!

Aside from my design team work, it's been a while since I took some time to create using other companies stamps . With Kathy Racoosin's Daily Marker challenge currently going on I thought I would take some time out of my day to create just for me.

I decided to use a stamp from a company who's images I absolutely adore and that is Three Room Studio Stamps...If you haven't heard of them, I highly recommend you go check them out because their style is like no other and the images are just a joy to colour and create with.

I decided to just grab a single image from the Believe In Fairies stamp set and colour her up using Copic markers. I will list the markers I used at the bottom of this post if you are interested.

Once I finished the colouring, I cut her out by hand (there are coordinating dies available but I don't have them). and then went on to create my background.

I have been on a real ink blending kick these last few weeks and have had so much fun making my backgrounds using stencils and inks...it can really take your card to the next level. To create my background, I used the Radiating Rays Stencil from My Favorite Things and ink blended using Distress Inks in the colours Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry, Abandoned Coral, Shaded Lilac, Dusty Concord, Seedless Preserves and finally Black Soot....woooah that was a lot of colours but I just love how it came out. To finish off my background, I added some white splatter using white paint mixed with water. I then mounted my background onto some Poppin' Pink card stock from My Favorite Things to help bring all the colours together.

To finish off my card, I stamped out the Circle Doodle Background stamp  from Simon Says Stamp onto some Eiffel Tower Card stock from My Favorite Things, using Eiffel Tower premium dye ink from My Favorite Things. The sentiment was stamped onto a banner and heat embossed using white embossing powder.

Copics:
Skin - E04, E11, E2, E00, E000, E0000 R20
Hair - E29 E25, E23

Paper Crafters Unite Against Racism

Hi Friends!
Back in January of this year, I had the honour of participating in the Paper Crafters Unite Against Racism Instagram Hop. When I heard they were doing another one, I jumped at the chance to participate.

Racism is a tricky subject to talk about but it exists and we need to change that. When I was trying to decide on what I was going to do for my project, I had a moment in my mind stick out to me. It wasn't necessarily racism just more ignorance.

Back in May of 2019 me and my partner Kevin were flown in to help out my good friend Ann (of Stamp Anniething) in her booth at an expo. I was teaching how to colour with Copics and created a project showcasing our products. It was a great day and everyone loved learning how to use Copic markers. Halfway through the day (I think this was my 7th time teaching the same class) while I was handing out the markers, a person attending the class asked if I had any more skin tones to choose from as we were only showing how to colour light skin. She said she wanted to colour her image to look like her...after hearing her say that I felt mortified that I had never thought of diversity or representation. Being gay, I know what it feels like to not be seen and it so upset me that I had done that to someone else unknowingly. I immediately told the lady we didn't have a dark skin tone but I would make one up for her then and there using the markers in her kit. I quickly figured out a dark skin combo for her and continued on with the class. When we were done, she was so over the moon with her project and thanked me for taking the time create a skin tone for her...In reality I should have been the one thanking her...she opened my eyes to something I didn't even realize I was doing and I will never do again...We all deserve to be seen and feel represented in this world. I wish I knew the name of that lady but maybe one day you will read this post and if you do...thank you! Thank you for being you and for asking to be seen...this card is for you.

Heart Burst Hello card kit

Hello Friends!
Today we are kicking off the release of the Heart Burst Hello card kit from My Favorite Things.

The April kit has so much to offer... a great sentiment stamp set with a beautiful prism heart shape that also has coordinating Die-namics, there is also the most beautiful cursive word stamps and matching Die-namics that you will find yourself reaching for time and time again.

I wanted to challenge myself with this project to use colours I don't often find myself using, so I chose a colour palette of green, grey and red, which allowed the blacks and white to really pop off my card.

I pulled out my Distress Oxides and Distress Inks and played around with ink smooshing... I always have so much fun getting inky. I used a combination of Twisted Citron, Rustic Wilderness and Mowed Lawn for the hearts shape, and for the background I used Hickory Smoke and Black Soot. I love the added texture ink smooshing gives to my projects.

I cut the word "Hey" out multiple times using white card stock and glued them together for added dimension and then heat embossed the sentiment "Love you more" onto Black Licorice card stock using white embossing powder.

There was a small heart shape left over from the "Hey" word Die-namics and I didn't want it to go to waste, so I coloured it quickly with a red Copic marker and placed it onto my sentiment strip.  To make the red a bit more cohesive on my project, I decided to use the same red Copic marker to colour strips of white cards stock to match the tiny heart and placed them on either side of my sentiment.

To finish off my card, I matted my card front onto some Prickly Pear card stock and placed a few iridescent sequins for that added sparkle.

The Heart Burst Hello card kit will be available Tuesday, April 20 at 10AM EDT

Slimline Challenge - Spring Has Sprung

Hi Friends!
Today we are kicking off another Slimline Challenge over on the My Favorite Things blog. We are challenging you to showcase your best Spring scene slimline card designs

It has been a minute since I last made a slimline card, so I jumped at the chance to participate in this challenge to create a Spring scene slimline.
I started by ink blending my background using Spun Sugar and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks. Next I used the Twice the Hugs sentiment die set and cut out the word "Hugs" four times using my everyday white card stock and then adhered them on top of each other to created a popped up "HUGS" sentiment...I love how it looks
I adore the new Sittin' Pretty stamp set and was just itching to use it again and couldn't ask for a better project to do so than the Spring Slimline Challenge.  I stamped all of the plant images as well as the 3 sweet little birdies, coloured them up with my Copic markers and then die cut them out using the coordinating Die-namics. Some of the images I adhered directly to my card front while others I added some foam tape to pop them up.
To complete my card I stamped a sentiment from the "Lots of Hugs" sentiment set and layered my card front onto a layer of Caribbean Sea and Butterscotch prestige card stock.

on a side note...would you like it if I included the Copic markers I used on my projects? Let me know in the comments below.

MFT & Friends - April 2021 Release

Hi Friends!
Today is the day! Woohoo! The My Favorite Things April 2021 Release is finally available!
Soooo....who's excited? I had such a blast playing around with this months stellar offerings and I cannot wait to see what you make with all these goodies! What have been the showstoppers for you and must have stamp sets? Be sure to let me know in the comments below :)

When it came to choosing which set I wanted to showcase for the final day of release week, it was a no brainer...it had to be the “Favorite Somebunny” stamp set.
I knew I wanted to create a galaxy background to set the scene for my cute little bunny image.  I coloured the bunny up with Copic markers and gave them a rainbow shirt to play off the colours in the galaxy background.
My card layout was kept super simple, I used Black Licorice card stock and heat embossed the sentiment using white embossing powder.

My Favorite Things April Release Countdown - Day 1

Hi Friends!
Welcome back to the final day of the My Favorite Things April release countdown.

I used the new Sprinkling You With Love stamp set, coloured it up with Copics then cut it out with the coordinating Die-namics.
I cut an A2 sized card front out of MFT’s kraft card stock and stamped the sentiment in black and heat embossed the sprinkling water drops using white embossing powder directly onto the card front.
For my background, I used Distress inks with the Ray Of Light stencil and paired it with the Outside the Box Cloud Die-namics to complete my scene.

I hope you like my card for today, see you tomorrow for the MFT & Friends release party.

My Favorite Things April Release Countdown - Day 2

Hi Friends!
Welcome back for day 2 of the My Favorite Things April release countdown! Today we are previewing some awesome new stamp sets...it was so hard to decide that I combined a few of them in my project for today.

I started off by colouring up the beautiful Spring Wreath stamp set with Copic markers and then die cut it out using the coordinating Die-namics. I then pulled a few of the images from the Tweet Memories stamp set and coloured them up using Copics as well. I want to try colouring up these images again on some Kraft card stock but with coloured pencils next...I think that would look gorgeous
I wanted to have some fun with my Distress Inks doing some ink smooshing. I had so much fun I decided to bring in some Distress Micro Glaze with the Lots of Hearts stencil. I love how this background turned out and pairs nicely with the images.
To bring everything together I used a sheet of pattern paper from the Stripe Splash paper pad paired with the Princess Pink prestige card stock.

See you tomorrow for the final day of previews.
